Everything we do at Impact Sports Performance is about making the biggest IMPACT possible, so we create programs that meet the needs and goals of each athlete. Programs range from 1-4 days per week depending on your goals, schedule, and level of commitment. No matter which option you choose, all programs begin with a comprehensive evaluation to determine your exact needs and goals. This evaluation allows us to create programs that are individualized to meet your needs. Our training is done through either 1-on-1 private sessions or in a small-group setting with a maximum of 8 athletes per trainer. This allows us to customize the programs of each participant while keeping the costs low for everyone. We offer monthly programs with no long-term commitment so that you get exactly what you need, and we have to earn your business every month.
We take great pride in providing exceptional performance training delivered by highly-qualified, experienced coaches. All of our coaches hold BS or MS degrees in the field, multiple certifications from national and international organizations, and years of experience developing athletes at all ages and all levels. Our staff is recognized throughout the industry as we regularly present at professional conferences, write books/articles, and are hired as consultants for other businesses and sports organizations. Our philosophy is to deliver results with the safest, most efficient and effective methods possible. Everything we do is backed by science; we are not making things up as we go or finding drills on YouTube. We spend a massive amount of time pouring through research, learning from experts, and practicing our craft so that we can give athletes and families what they deserve – exceptional training that delivers results.
In a typical program, we use a mix of incline treadmill running, agility, plyometrics, corrective exercises, strength training, and acceleration work to develop optimal movement patterns and explosive power. Most programs also include plyometrics, power, quickness and multi-directional agility work. We use drills to enhance starting, stopping, and change of direction to give the athlete optimal foot quickness and keep them healthy.
We are constantly working to enhance an athlete’s ability to move efficiently and deliver more force into those movements. This combination of movement education and power development is what makes athletes move faster, jump higher, last longer, and play harder without getting injured.
Scheduling is incredibly flexible. We know how crazy schedules can be, so we allow you pick your days and times rather than fitting our schedule. Sessions last about 90 minutes and include corrective/specialized exercises, speed & agility training, strength training, flexibility work, and sport-specific conditioning. Scheduling can be done in-person or through our online scheduling platform where you can always view your schedule. We will help you create a schedule that works with everything else going on in your life so that the timing of your training is optimal.
Want Results? We have documented the progress of athletes in our programs for nearly 20 years, so we know it works. We get an average of .2 seconds off the 40 yard-dash and 5-10-5 Shuttle, and a 2-4 inch increase on the Vertical Jump.
Athletes also get huge strength gains from our individualized routines improving single-leg strength by an average of 30 pounds in just six weeks. These results make a big difference on the field or court, allowing for faster speed of play, greater stamina, and better overall athleticism.
Running is an element of nearly every sport. Just two quick phrases summarize our goal: Move faster—run longer! However, there are actually key components essential to meeting this general goal.
Incline running on the treadmill, mechanics education & feedback, and resisted running allow us to develop the key factors associated with acceleration and maximum velocity running. These techniques help each athlete learn and maintain knee drive, proper pelvic and trunk position, forceful contraction of the lower extremity, optimal stride length and properly coordinated upper extremity movement. Learning to move more efficiently not only helps athletes run faster, but also keeps athletes healthy by avoiding overuse injuries caused by faulty movement patterns.
Impact owner Jim Kielbaso literally wrote the book on training movement mechanics (three books actually) and certifies coaches around the world on how to assess and correct these important traits.

Working with Jim and the other trainers to come up with hockey specific workouts, I have used the combination of the weight room and field house to become stronger, quicker, and more explosive.
I’ve been training at Impact Sports Performance since middle school, and I believe this place played a big role in my hockey career.
I’ve worked out at a number of Athletic Republic sites over the years. When I came to Detroit, I immediately found Impact Sports Performance. I’ve been working out here for about 3 years.
Being in the NFL and CFL means playing at the highest level and being at the best of your game. That’s what we get here at Impact. I’ve been here for 2 years and I can expect nothing but the best.
