The 2022 Novi Middle School Summer Strength & Conditioning Program will take place on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 11:00 – 12:00 AM, June 21th – August 4th. The week of July 4th will be taken OFF as a mandatory dead week in order to give kids a break. Meet at the Varsity Stadium field each day to start the program.
The program is open to all Novi student-athletes entering 7th & 8th grade, and the Novi Athletic Department is generously paying for the entire program!
To register, simply download and fill out the Impact Waiver and email it to the Novi Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Matt Cady, at firstname.lastname@example.org along with the athlete’s name, grade, and sports. We can only accommodate 30 people in this program, so the first 30 to register will get those spots. Please only take a spot if you fully intend to participate.
The program is designed to improve the speed, agility, conditioning, and strength of athletes playing all sports. The goal of the strength development portion of the program is to teach young athletes how to safely use the weight room and utilize proper technique on all exercises. Not only will this will prepare the athletes for the fall sports season, but it will also get them ready for high school sports and life-long fitness. The speed/agility/conditioning portion of the program is designed to teach proper running mechanics and safely prepare the athletes for the demands of fall sports.
Approximately 30 minutes each day will be focused on speed/agility/conditioning and the other 30 minutes will be dedicated to strength training in the weight room.
The summer program will certainly be demanding, but the goal is to have middle school athletes enjoy the training process and see it as a part of their long-term athletic development. The Impact staff will be running the high school S & C program as well, so this will help prepare the student-athletes for success in high school.
Please bring running shoes and cleats (this is optional if the athlete has them and wants to use them on the turf, but cleats are NOT mandatory) as well as their own water. Water may not always be readily available, so prepare for the heat by bringing a drink.
