Novi Middle School Summer Strength & Conditioning Program

The 2021 Novi Middle School Summer Strength & Conditioning Program will take place on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10:00 – 11:00 AM, June 22nd – August 6th.  The week of July 4th – 10th will be taken OFF as a mandatory dead week in order to give kids a break.  Meet at the Varsity Stadium field each day to start the program.

The cost of the 7-week program is $175 ($25/week) and it is open to all Novi student-athletes entering 7th & 8th grade.  If you know you’ll be missing some of the sessions due to vacations or other commitments, please email Impact owner Jim Kielbaso to set up a pro-rated payment.

The program is designed to improve the speed, agility, conditioning, and strength of athletes playing all sports.  The goal of the strength development portion of the program is to teach young athletes how to safely use the weight room and utilize proper technique on all exercises.  Not only will this will prepare the athletes for the fall sports season, but it will also get them ready for high school sports and life-long fitness.  The speed/agility/conditioning portion of the program is designed to teach proper running mechanics and safely prepare the athletes for the demands of fall sports.

Approximately 30 minutes each day will be focused on speed/agility/conditioning and the other 30 minutes will be dedicated to strength training in the weight room.

Matt Cady will be running the summer program.  Matt is a former college strength & conditioning coach at Miami-OH where he also played hockey.  He has worked with the Impact staff at Novi high school for several years and has plenty of experience working with athletes of all ages and levels.

The summer program will certainly be demanding, but the goal is to have middle school athletes enjoy the training process and see it as a part of their long-term athletic development.  The Impact staff will be running the high school S & C program as well, so this will help prepare the student-athletes for success in high school.

Please bring running shoes and cleats (this is optional if the athlete has them and wants to use them on the turf, but cleats are NOT mandatory) as well as their own water.  Water may not always be readily available, so prepare for the heat by bringing a drink.

We don’t yet know if masks will be mandated outdoors this summer, but please bring a mask and plan on wearing them in the weight room until further notice.

This program will be limited to 40 participants.  To register, please click on the link below to pay and include your athlete’s name, age, and primary sport in the appropriate field.  The link will allow you to pay with PayPal or any major credit card.  Please click Return to Merchant when you are done to get confirmation details.
